Construction works on the 450MW Temane gasoline and energy project in Mozambique has begun. The country’s President Filipe Nyusi ceremonially laid the primary stone to mark the start of the venture.
The venture located in Inhassoro, Inhambane Province, includes construction of Temane-Maputo power line, and an LPG plant. Supply for the facility and LPG services will come from the PSA project and entails an funding of US $760 million from Sasol.
The project upon completion will provide 30,000 tonnes per 12 months of LPG, accounting for more than 70% of native demand and lowering the need for imports. Gas will go to the 450 MW Temane energy plant. The PSA may even produce 4,000 barrels per day of sunshine oil. PSA will start producing in 2024. Power provides are expected in 2025.

The Temane energy plant will supply energy to Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM) underneath a 25-year contract. Sasol and Globeleq closed the financing for the venture in December 2021. EDM has been in discussions with a quantity of potential customers. These embrace Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA). EDM has raised the potential for growing power exports to Zimbabwe from January 2025, when CTT begins up. The Mozambique firm has also mentioned provides from CTT to Eswatini and South Africa’s Eskom.
